I wouldn't try to self lern how to play an erhu because of the techniques. I have been playing the violin for 14 years now, so right hand fingering is not an issue, but I don't want to learn the techniques (i.e. bow hold, bowing etc.) because if you learn it wrong, it's hard to unlearn. Sadly there are no teachers in my area.

@hanjadrew frd = friend haha. It depends where you live. Do you know any Chinese music lessons offered nearby where you live? Even a Chinese piano teacher may help. Go to those music stores, and ask them if they teach er hu, or know anybody who teaches er hu. That's how I found mine.

I plan on self teaching myself, it doesn't seem all that hard, and if I practice continiously, then maybe I can get as good as this guy one day.

@hanjadrew yea you need a teacher for this...it's not like a guitar where there are a lot of online tutorials. You do need a teacher. Or perhaps you can get a frd who knows how to play..sry..but i do have a teacher. I don't think self-teaching (unless you are musically gifted) is going to work here.

This song is actually not that hard. I know how to play this song too, and I've only been playing for 3 years. Sure it's hard to play at the level that he does, but there are a tons of other songs out there that are harder
