  • that is my impression from watching the water seemingly rushing from left to right especially at the beginning of the video and the boat seems to stall. I could be wrong. Also I have been there in my Mac and usually don't pay too much attention to tides, with my 50 horse engine, I just power through whatever. Nice video!

  • @gerloczyek There are always currents in the San Juans but I think we are traversing it and you are seeing mostly illusion. You know, shooting a moving target from a moving platform added to wind waves coming up the strait. We were making about 6 knots over ground. Stalling: As the wind waves build I can feel the energy of the wave bashing the bow & slowing the boat. It's really apparent in the second shot. The boat is moving along nicely then slows and then picks up again.

  • @gerloczyek Thanks, I love shooting video while sailing. Allows me to enjoy it during the winter. I still have unfinished video from 06, 07, 08 10 & 11. Must find time somewhere.

  • looks like somebody forgot to check their tide tables, or don't care?

  • @gerloczyek How do you figure?
