The fact that toyota has a hand in Subaru's pocket is irrelevant. Subaru has a superior drivetrain, and value to Toyota. Dollar for dollar, Subaru comes on top. Let's not forget that Subaru's Lafayette, Indiana plant actually taught Toyota a thing or two about quality control. The forums on the web point to that facility for the best of Toyota's vehicles.

Toyota will cover that ground in short order. Also, they do have a controlling interest in Subaru. The share which GM foolishly gave up when it was on its deathbed.
