I been to Vietnam many times. Vietnam loves tourists and its people are very friendly. The police will not mess with you if you are American. They do not want to "lose face" by taking money from you. The police WILL take money from the locals. I was on a small tour bus that got pulled over. The bus was "speeding" on a road with no speed limit. Seems they can make up a speed limit as they chose. The bus driver gave him some cash and we continued on our tour.

Vietnam is indeed a great place to visit. And I agree with unclescottie about how that stuff happens rarely now. And I've never heard of a 13 story airport in Vietnam. O_o I did have a couple problems while I was there, but nothing that couldn't possibly happen in the US. So, I would disregard those comments from your friend and visit Vietnam, its a great place, the locals are (mostly) friendly to foreigners.

yeah hes an idiot for believe`n that shit. the airport in vietnam doesnt contain 13 floor w.t.f. i`ve been to vietnam 8 times already. and everytime i go..no one in green suit bribe us for money. its probably your friend`d dumb face which made those guys all anal. and besides..they dont even dare to take our passport away. god.

it seems to me you've never been to vietnam or anywhere. i've been there several times and never had a problem. as for the 13th floor, tan son nhat airport only has two floors.
