  • I LOVE JACO AS MUCH AS ANYONE.PLEASE NEVER FORGET THAT!

  • To potatomasta - I mean this with love man- if you know the history you know his solos on records like Havona, Port of Entry, Donna Lee, Punk Jazz, were not improvised. He constructed them line by line in the studio.Still unbelieveable and historic, still blow me away ,but live he did not play like that.He played his licks. EVERY time.I was there every night I know.Still he's my hero. I would just like to see the history be written correctly, as know it should be, cause I was there.

  • Hey meatyout thanks for your comment.I don't think I have a despicable attitude at all. Please know that I am just as in awe of the Jaco as everyone else.I just don't get caught in the hype and keep it real.He was a phenomenal presence in music, but a lick player none the less.Licks that changes the world, but still a lick player.

His version of Dolphin Dance is not the best interpretation of those changes that I ever heard that's all.I'm still blown away by him though, don't get me wrong.

  • Love Jaco like everyonr else. His version of Dolphin Dance is just ok but doesn't kill me though.Same licks he always plays, not improvised.

  • obviously nobody wants to forget Jaco's version of Donna Lee ... another way to play great music, with great phrases, beautiful tone, killer sense of time, and all this on FIRST TAKE. Big Respect John Francis ...

  • Victor is not offending Jaco. I agree with him, Jaco used to improvise with a different approach, using preconstituted licks and phrases, great stuff definitely ! He was genial using this material, but during the dark years he was no more able to use this stuff in the best way, and he started to became very repetitive. i love Jaco, nobody was and is so innovative and genial on electric bass, period. ;- )

  • i love jazz with electric bass ... it sounds so fresh ...

  • vic keeps it real always, and what he says here is true and been corroberated by many including jeff berlin. jaco was a phenom , no doubt, tone-time-taste beyond measure , but he was not a jazz bassist who was extremely adept at soloing over "changes". that takes nothing from his formidable accomplishements, it simply

recognizes the fact....and helps keep him human like the rest of us ;-)

  • hey vic, how'd you get your bass to sound like that? it sounds awesome! I've tried to get this sound for years!

  • Superb!! Watching this video I remember why you're my bass hero. ;)

By the way, I've seen you at Fodera's artist page. Are you going to upload a video with your new Fodera? I think It should sound incredible!!!

You're the best, Victor. Don't forget this.

  • This sucks.. He has played much better

  • Hey VB, dig the feel but man, whats with the metro? i agree about jaco. its tough to say out loud but he just didn't actually improvise enough. typing as i'm listening and you're really layin it down.

    e bass ftw.

    wynton is the enemy.

  • 若干スイング気味のメトロノームが微妙に良い!(笑
