When Lennon's home version of Grow Old With Me was first released on 'Milk And Honey' in 1984, the track was a mono double-tracked mix, created by Lennon himself, by playing his original version out on speakers, then recording himself double-tracking his vocal and adding light percussion.
When Yoko was preparing the release of 'John Lennon Anthology' in 1998, she asked George Martin to add an orchestral score to it. The double-tracked version was cleaned up, and the strings and bass dubbed over it.
In 2010, Lennon's original take was released on the bootleg 'Living On Borrowed Time', along with 2 alternative piano takes and 2 acoustic takes.
This is a stereo mix of the two tracks used to form the version used on 'Milk And Honey' and 'John Lennon Anthology'. Created by 'howdoyousleep?' on BZ.
