(27/02/08) This is my first attempt at writing an instrumental piece on the guitar, got the insperation from listening to Paul Gilbert and Joe Satriani. The title of the song "the last tommy" came from me been inspired by the story of the last remaining soldier from the first world war.
The song is mostly E minor pentatonic and blues with a couple of notes borrowed from the natural minor, but there is some Ionian Dorian and phrygian mode in the intro and end solo.
Please let me know what you think cos i put alot of effort into this and any constructive criticism is welcome.

Metal heads/rockers/musicians...any one who loves music, add me!

  • Well done m8. Very nice solos in parts. Very Iron Maiden imo. :)

  • @Grifty77 Haha iron maiden are awsome, a balance between metal and hard rock, dont get any better than that.

  • how'd you make the backing tracks? i'm especially interested in the drums

  • @TasteForDisaster With a drum sequencer, the one i used for this vid is called acoustica beatcraft, its really easy to use but the only problem is you cant change tempo. and i then used free recording software called reaper with a line 6 amp. Listen to the mp3 recordings i have uploaded to hear how good it can sound. Record each part twice, then arange one to the left speeker about 95% and then the other to the right about 95% and you get a fat warm heavy sound that sounds real.

  • Auuuuu!! That was awesome!!!Good Job!!!
