I appreciate watching how the Japanese (such a lovely people) deal with their departed. Seeing this movie will make you wish you were Japanese, just because of how they handle the final rites

man..... i must be heartless.... cause when i watched this movie i did not cry..... but other than my heartlessness, it was one of the best movies ever shown!

Bought it off ebay from a guy who was selling a Japanese copy of the DVD with English sub. It was only $15, and that was including shipping. If you wanna buy it though, read all the fine print and make sure you get the Region 0 version, or else it wont play on an American DVD player.

The film is terrific, wonderful, emotional. I wasn´t the only one crying during the movie. I definitely recommend it goes beyond funerals.

Couldn't agree more!! I just watched the movie and my sleeves are soaked! What a great movie. Props to Joe Hisaishi for his amazing musical talent, as well.
