I've been coaching a client in preparation for his debut in racing in the Historic Formula Ford Championship. We were at Teesside Autodrome in Middlesbrough yesterday to test where my client could get used to his new car.
After John had done about 30 laps (it says 12 in the video but that's just in the session the recording is from, there were three or four sessions before that) and recorded a best time of 53.15 seconds at that point, I got in to check the car over and set him a target time (hopefully! lol). This is the first time I have driven a Formula Ford 1600 in anger for 16 years! Too fat, too heavy, not a great fit in the car, restricted space, also too short for the pedals as John is longer than me, so had to lie to flat; elbows in ribs, neck at a funny angle, otherwise fine! LOL
My first flying lap is a 52.98 and my 6th and final flying lap is a 50.43... although the datalogger says it's a 50.22...
The car is a 1971 Elden Mk8 (Historic) Formula Ford 1600.
