Taken in May 2007 In Prague. The Church of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Resslova Street was the hiding-place and last stand of the Czech resistance patriots who assassinated Reinhard Heydrich in 1942. Cornered and with no hope of escape, they held off German attackers for many hours before being overwhelmed and committing suicide in the crypt. See my website www.robdavis.webhop.org/prague for the full details of the story.

  • Really liked your Page and Video, went to Prague earlier this month with John Martin The Mirror caught the Sun Tour, went to the Crypt and loads of other Places. The paratroopers and the Resistance were so Brave! To sacrifice themselves, and fight to the death was an amazing thing .Recomend you read Johns Book its very Moving , and do the Tour if you can, he gets u to places that you cant normally get to.

  • Thanks for the comment, yes it was a profoundly moving experience visiting there. I'll see if I can get a copy of the book you mention. We are unlikely to return to Prague, Sagan or Colditz in the near future, but I would like to go back, especially to Colditz now that internal refurbishment of the PoWs' area has been done. When we were there in May 2007, the floors were unsafe, and the guide said to come back in 5 years. David Jason was in the Colditz Theatre recently on a TV programme.

  • Thanks. One way and another it was quite a trip back in M\ay 2007. I've just posted film of Colditz Castle.

  • The hole was surprisingly large, and curiously it contained a Japanese samurai sword, presumably as someone's tribute. If the four men in the crypt had had more time they could have reached under Resslova Street and gained access to the sewer or tunnel which led to the Vltava - only a few hundred yards away.
