Ben McPherson stages & photographs elaborate Bible scenes, then uses the photos as references for his enormous, lifelike paintings. Each scene is a huge undertakings, but because he lives in Utah, and Mormonism frown on facial hair, Ben's biggest obstacle is recruiting enough men with beards. So he ends up searching Utah's homeless shelters and anarchist cafes to find his prophets and disciples.

This is why this show is so good. I took one look and though "big jesus paintings, whoopdeedoo" but the real story is the men he recruits to have the beards and where they come from. The same types of people that Jesus himself preached to. Awesome.
