I have lived with ENS for 23 years. I did some research recently and found the described method with the glycerine/ glucosesyrup mixture and its effect on becteria, and found it really good. Make sure every ingredient is PRESERVATIVE FREE. If you use Glycerine BP grade it normally is preservative free. Instead of glucose syrup you can just mix a teaspoon of glucose powder with a teaspoon of water. Instead of Glucose you can use organic honey. At the moment I am using this mixture and it works even better.
You can apply the mixture with Q-tips with a piece of tissue wrapped around it to get a sufficient amount in. You need to get in really a lot! Use a fresh tip everytime yo dip it into the mixture so t keeps for a few days.
1:1 Honey to glycerine is good. But IMO it doesn't really matter.
I have also said in the film, that flushing the nose with salt-solution should be avoided. Some people say that this is not true. But I found new evidence for that recently in a study which said that the salt (NaCL) inhibits the cilia function. The cilia are the little skin flaps that transport the mucus. I still believe that you should not flush regularly with NaCL solution, only if you have a cold. But I found a better substance instead of normal salt: Lite Salt which you can get very cheap in every supermarket. It consists of 1:1 KCL and Nacl. The Kalium choride in it is much gentler to the membranes and even can heal them. I find this solution so good I flush my nose again 1-2 times a week with it (normally 0.9 % concentrated);
I also found a better way of flushing but it is not for everyone as you could get some liquid into you lung. You have to practice and do it really carefully. This is how it works: Put the warm salt solution into a broad cup and slowly suck it up through your nose. Then expel it through your mouth. Not all will go through, especially if your nose is blocked, much will run out from the nose again, but that is OK.
The benefit of this lays in the water going through the back of your throat. This area is usually full of mucus too in ENS sufferers. This gets rid of this additional problem of post nasal drip.

  • Yeah, I really appreciate these tips! I just want the anxiety and depression to go away. I was the happiest guy going, then this crap happened. :C Ah well. I will conquer it one way or the other...

  • Hi, as I said, Seabuckthorn oil is very good, also if you can get it Medihoney Eczema Cream ( I am using this at the moment). Against the anxiety you can try hypnosis or psychotherapy. You have to learn to live with a disability!! The sooner you accept this the better. It is NO use fighting against it, believe me, I tried for decades. The book "A new Earth" from Eckhard Tolle helped me a lot. He says you can always accept the present moment.

Acupuncture is also good against dryness.

  • The suggestions are mainly for people with ENS but some might work for others especially aerobic exercise,

Olive oil helps agains congestion as it loosens the mucus. But use only a little bit or you could inhale it into your lungs .Mixed it with glycerin too

Another possibilty is that you have an allergy. You can test this yourself if you take an over the counter antihistamine, If it gets better from that, you have an allergy Many people are histamin intolerant, which is a form of an allergy.

  • Hi, I have been dealing with swollen turbinates for the last few months as a result of some carpentry work (I believe). My nose doesn't block completely but does restrict flow of mucus. If you any suggestions to avoid surgery I would be extremely grateful. In the meantime I will try the suggestions you note in the video.

    Many thanks, Steep

  • Hi Steep, the comment above was for you, I still don't know how to use youtube :-). You can also try to suck up the solution from your palm, but don't lean your head back or you might get something in you lungs. You can try irrigation with xylitol too (you get irrigation devices in the pharmacy), I found it puts too much strain on my nose. Add a little salt if it burns. And do lots of aerobic axecise like walking, jogging, anything is good. This dissolves the mucus. Hope this helps all the best

  • If you didn't have swollen turbinates before, you probably have an allergic reaction against some chemicals or saw dust. I would recommend you take a non- drowsy antihistamine, like Loratadine. At the same times spray into your nostrils 2-3 x daily a xylitol solution (1 TBLSP/ 100ml) made up of strong green tea. Green tea is rich in antioxidants and xylitol dissolves mucus and kills germs. You can buy a nasal spray bottle in the pharmacy, or empty a spray bottle with decongestant .

  • frederike42 when u put honey and glycerin up your nose how to u stop your self from blowign it out it makes u want to blow it out of your nose email me paterson 6464@yahoo.com adn put answer here

  • @BaileyLush i have ens too

  • Your advices are right and work very good. You live in Australia very dry, but I live in Mexico City, one of the most poluted cities in the world and capital city of the country that produces more kinds of nose bacterias. If I don't take care like you do, I'm seek almost every other week during the whole year. After removing my turbinators my nose is like a sponge for bacterias and cold germs. Doing 3 hours of running a day concentrating in my nose functions, I can do better.

    Thanks for video

  • Thank you. I didn't have a turbinectomy however, and was also aware of ENS pre surgery. However my doctor did an over aggresive sub mucosal resection, and it has still greatly hindered my life.

  • Sorry to hear that. I had my septum straightened and have chronic sinusitis. The doctors preferred a turbinectomy. If it wasn't for my compulsion of research i would probably have the same condition you do. Best of luck to you though.

  • Thanks for your wisdom Friederike42=)

  • good video, sorry for your suffering, i know the suffering has a ourpose. these ent doctors have caused so much suffering, they arent interested in trying to understand. the ents who know about this are not taking on there industry.
