Great story. I know Chris Amon got lots of wins cruelly snatched from his hands, the most memorable would probably by the French GP in 1972, which he would have won if not for the puncture, and many claim he would win anyway had it gone on for a few more laps.

Jackie Stewart considered Chris Amon to be one of the top 3 drivers in the late 60's, but he was always in the wrong team at the wrong time.

  • Two years before at Brands, I think Chris Amon could have won in the ensign in his last real race , if he hadn't been hit by regga in the opening mele. I think the ensign was quicker than that six wheel tyrell monstrosity. James of course was hopeless like me only thought about motor racing(war) and sex. Nothing else entered his calculatioin. Eoin Young , James bio man could say , Hunt was hopeless , but if your really serious you only concentrate on what counts human competition and sex.
