Elvis Presley Love Coming Down
Written by Jerry Chesnut. Recorded February 6-7, 1976 at Graceland. It is available on From Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis, Tennessee, Walk a Mile in My Shoes-The Essential 70s Masters, and Moody Blue.

I remember how your eyes used to light up
Over promises that I made
But for the first time in my life
I know now how it feels to be afraid
I don't know what Id do if you go away
This would sure be one lonely old town
For a man's so busy going up in the world
That he couldn't see love coming down
Love coming down

I remember all the times you told me
Love's all that mattered to you
And looking back now, wondering how I believed
I had things more important to do
I can see how I must have looked to you
Like some fool on a merry-go-round
Another man so busy going up in the world
That he couldn't see love going down
Love going down

Can't you see how everything Ive learned
Would just be wasted if you leave me
If you just give one more try
I swear Ill always be here when you need me
If you can find it in your heart to forgive me
I'll try to keep both my feet on the ground
But if a man's so busy going up in the world
That he couldn't see love coming down
Love coming down

  • I have often wondered if his mom had lived longer, if things would have turned out differently for him. That was such a crucial period in his life and I feel it totally rocked him and shook him to the core. He definitely spent the rest of his life trying to fill the gaps in his heart/soul. I wish he had found more peace in his life. If anyone's life ever proved beyond doubt that Fame and Fortune do not bring the happiness and peace within that only God can give us.

  • ELVIS will be in our hearts and memories forever!

  • Very amazing Song!

  • The FTD label released The Jungle Room Sessions where these songs were recorded: The Jungle Room at Graceland. Elvis refused to go to a studio so they had a mobile studio brought to his house. Elvis laid bare his heart and soul on those sessions. The Jungle Room Sessions album do not contain any overdub and everything is recorded live! You really can tell that Elvis sent out a message of pain and hurt. Just listen to his version of Hurt. The songs were used for the last 2 albums of his life.

  • @doolin3fay no

  • @Pallindrom27 You totally got it. They were pushing rock songs to Elvis, but Elvis refused to record them. The only exception being Burning Love. in 1972 he recorded only a song or 6, but most of them where about loss and heartbrak. Just listen to Seperate Ways or the very underrated Always on my mind. In 1973 things were hard too. Elvis almost died days after the divore was final. In 1974 no recording session at all. 1975 a fine country album. In 1976 this came from his home and his heart.
