Driving in Costa Rica is one of the most rewarding experiences. It can be extremely rough on some of the dirt roads, but you are rewarded with an adrenaline rush, a sense of adventure, as well as unimaginable vistas.
Most of the major roads in Costa Rica are paved and in fairly good condition. They do not require an SUV. However, if you plan to go to the more remote locations, you will need 4WD. Any 4WD will do.
We had a tiny compact SUV Suzuki Jimny and it handled everything extremely well! Although it probably provides a much rougher ride than a Land Rover would.
Love the music, who sings this?

@AKJeeper The only part that rattled on the Jimny I rented was the locking device for the shifter. I just had my passenger hold on to it when we were on rough roads, no rattles!

I'm going to be renting one of these Jimnys when I go there next month. Do they really rattle as much as it sounds in this video?
