As for the piece, Nelhybel is supposed to be played as written. Firstly, beginning to 17 must be a steady crescendo. As for the tempo, it SHOULD NOT have been messed with. As for the Vivo, 220 is too fast! Try 135. Avoid clipping the ends of phrases at the Meno Mosso.
@Frizzyindeed09 I want to point out a few things since I played this work about 9 years later with the same conductor. The conductor was very close friends with Nelhybel and would call or see him to find out about tips on how to play his work. Secondly, this auditorium was terrible acoustically so it was very hard to capture the emotions when your fighting that. It is not an excuse but its an example of poor engineering. Finally, this video recording is very old and not the best quality.
Tone quality and technique was excellent, BUT I do have constructive criticism., They took it really fast...a little too fast and devoid of any emotion. It should be more dramatic and have certain parts emphasized. A good example is at 2:27. Instead of datdatdat it should sound more like dah dah dah dahhhh. Also, they aren't utilizing dynamics. This piece isn't something to be rushed which is what it felt like. It felt rushed. It's supposed to flow, supposed to evoke something in your soul.
