amnesia doesnt make sense to me. like, if you forget a specific point in time then fine. but if you forget everything up until you were like 11 yrs old for example then if you learned algebra at age 15 you shouldn't know algebra anymore because you basically regressed back to age 11. likewise if you can't remember anything, then shouldn't you forget how to read, write, speak properly as well? like a newborn baby?

@AxAie No, that's not how amnesia works, you tend to lose your episodic memories. There are many different types of memory that function and are forgotten differently; episodic memories are personal events that are remembered, and they're what you usually lose due to any kind of head trauma or amnesia. Very rare forms of brain damage can harm specific things like language comprehension, but you can't "forget" procedural things en mass like that in any way I've ever heard of.

@SirTapTap @AxAie The physical structure of memories and their specific location in the brain is still the cause of theory and debate, as is how they are formed and retained.
