  • Conrail C32-8 locomotives were built by GE as preproduction testbed locomotives and sent to Conrail to test the Dash 8 technology when it was first being developed in the early to mid 1980's. That's why there were only 10 built.

    Eric

  • What was the reason that caused GE to only build 10? Was the 2300 HP motor just an interim to the C39-8 or were they unreliable?

I assume that they have all fallen to the hot blue wrench?

  • @epistte There were only 10 built, a few went to Brazil, I think

  • Why were the C32-8s stricken from the NS roster? Were they problem children?

  • man those look rare i bet they are

  • Exciting stuff

  • Man did I love C32-8s. Before the coming of the SD80MACs, these were one of the best performers over the B&A line. I'm sad to see them going. Nice video!

  • Brings back old memories...
