Newroz 2008 in Van

The Kurds in Van (aka Wan), Colemerg and Sért were not allowed to celebrate their Newroz at the weekend and they were forced to celebrate Newroz on 21'th March. Therefore the inhabitants of those cities didn't implement the calender of the state. Yesterday Kurds in those cities started to celebrate Newroz and they were harshly attacked by the Turkish security forces. During the celebrations in Wan, one of the Kurdish activists was shot dead in his head by the Turkish police force. The dead whose name is Zeki Erinç, 35, was buried by thousands of people in Wan today.
