The Tattoo Project - Part 1

The Tattoo Project: Body. Art. Image. A synthesis of portraiture and tattoo art that poses the eternal question, "Who am I?".

The portrait camera and the tattoo -- both profess, or pretend, to reveal identity.
In the Spring of 2010 a dozen Vancouver photographers were challenged to make fine art out of tattoo art over a three day weekend, from a cast of a hundred tattooed subjects. A dozen different photographic visions and philosophies were brought to bear on the assembled body art.

Richard Vedon said of portrait photography, "A portrait isn't a fact, only an opinion". The images that emerged from this experiment constitute a Gallery Exhibition unlike any other.
