http://sogood.tv Heather Johnston, popular food vlogger, discusses the rising cost of food in the U.S. and abroad, and suggests ways you can take action.
I know this comment is very late, but I had to say this is a great video. Recently a local church had a huge food give away for anyone who needed food in our small town and they gave out 3 very heavy loaded boxes to each car that pulled up. They loaded each car very fast. What was in the boxes? Cookies, crackers, chips, corn, snack crackers, highly sweetened juices, nothing but sugar, salt, and starch. Sad
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I have basically only been focusing on my own family crisis with the possible loss of one or both incomes. This helps refocus me on the global issues.
One of the things I like most about this lastest presidential campaign is that we now have someone running for president that seems to think more globally and that is important when it comes to this issue.
The first thing you should do is cover your own bases before you go out and try to help others. Learn to garden(some foods can even be grown in the kitchen is room is unavailable).
They make about 8% profit. Because of their VOLUME, it makes it seem like they're raping you. What kind of profit margin does YOUR company enjoy? 20% 30% MORE? Take a look at all the TAX that gets slapped on that gallon of gas and tell me who's raping who?
What I want to know is why the oil companies are making billions in profit and no one is able or willing to do something about it? This then raises the prices of food and clothing. Money hungry companies are gaining too much power and destroying our communities. Wages aren't keeping up with inflation either.
You are right, the middle class is declining in America, but is rising globally in countries like India and China, I was unclear on the point. Thanks, hj
