  • Good for that women for speaking up. People are such hippocrites.

  • Transgender issues are not being adequately addressed by the LGBT community. The problem is clearly more than one of semantic differences.

    Also, Thank you Julian Bond!

  • this is why we need to spend more time educating ourselves within the LGBTQ community on what is acceptable code of conduct when addressing our fellow brothers and sisters..so, that this type of misunderstanding and misinterpretation won't ever happen again! i do appreciate both ashley love and don lemons for their debatable viewpoints! but,if we are to survive as a whole,we need to place our differences aside and focus more on how we need to work together for equal rights and tolerance for all!

  • Get over it he was not trying not to leave anybody out, calm down women. I think someone should have walked here out.

  • @hernovichg You need to educate yourself, because you don't know me at all OR my mentality, so, kick rocks. Your mama's a groupie. I feel the same way she does, and that doesn't make me a follower but aware that I have a voice. I won't let a DL man make stigmas against the trans community. What proof do you have by her attacking anybody? None. She's putting people in check by making people accountable for their actions.

  • @FiveStarLuxury Actualy, she has gone on rants against those who are Transgender. She continues to divide the community by attacking gay men and anyone who happens to be white. Educate yourself on how Ashley mislabels other trans- activistist who have a different opinion than her own. The only ignorance here is your own who your groupie mentality.

  • OOH, I couldn't be in that damn audience. I woulda got him right together! Miss Ashley showed restraint, so my hat's off to her. She saying our issues often get swept under the rug. When gay & lesbian people try to be the face of trans experience, most don't care about the issues we endure. That's his problem, he's NOT hung up on letters because he doesn't care. Hell! Why not just say that all black people are the same? Why not just say that we're all equal when we're not? That's the POINT.

  • Say what the hell you want, the real joke is that Don person. He seems very uneducated & biased about people of trans & intersex experience. To just put the entire trans & intersex community in a box & call them all gay, is very rude. The people who agreed with him at the end of the clip aren't trans either. So, they wouldn't know the discrimination we face from the LGB community. She's saying that we AREN'T treated as a facet of the lgb, even though we originated Stonewall.

  • @Hernovich She's not a joke. You must not be trans. Where did she talk about other trans people? Why would she do that when she's an activist for LGBTI rights? Your ignorance is really working on overtime here. She isn't trying to divide the LGBTI community, she's bringing it together. It's nothing new that Gay, Lesbian, & Bi communities... of both colors constantly exclude trans people, and the fact that trans people of color are the highest demographic who's murdered in the community.

  • Don Lemon = mouthpiece for the ruling class via their corporate media. He is not "one of us." I heard him say "LGBTQ" quite clearly and quite easily, so it's clear that his choice to excuse TS/TG people. Those of us committed to social justice for all don't make these choices.

  • @Hernovich What personally irks me the most about this video and his reaction is this "She can't be serious" expression he has, as if what she saying isn't valid. He then attempts to placate her by saying well, I can't be bothered to remember all these letters, as if that is what being trans* means to the larger gay rights movement. It's like being told "you're an amendment, and as soon as we get what we need, we'll get what you need too". He claims to "get it", but I don't think he really does.

  • @Hernovich Okay, well then you've made it clear that your issue is with her, but again, the points she made are still completely valid and deserve to be addressed. Does Mr. Lemon know her from a hole in the wall? Probably not. Was his reaction warranted? Well, I could see him being thrown off by it. But the fact remains that he didn't address it, and if his interview on Monday night filling in for Joy Behar is any indication of his understanding of these issues, then he has a ways to go himself.
