Due to the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD, the Ancient Roman city of Pompeii has been exceptionally well preserved under approximately 60 feet of volcanic ash and pumice. Following its discovery and excavation in 1748, it has provided the most detailed information on ancient Roman city life. This project re-creates a small house in Pompeii from what is known of the foundations of a real house. A 'fly through' movie has been produced which showcases unique architectural details of Roman homes, including the Atrium (a large central hall) and a columnaded, cloistered garden to the rear.

  • I'm going to make that cloistered garden in Minercaft. It's amazing how powerful Vesuvius was, and how well-preserved these buildings were. You can imagine so vividly the horror that ensued here in Pompeii.
