What Neil Had to say about this song: "This song was pure stream of consciousness, written more to capture amoment in time than to tell a story. I still like the way it feels to sing this song."

  • This remarkable song always gives me the blues when I hear it. On my return from Vietnam I had just got my ring back from my favorite girl after going over to her house. You can guess the song I was hearing driving away into the night...with my shotgun blasted pride..trying to patch the holes with anything I could find....

  • thank the lord for neil diamond!

  • I just love this song......its so heart touching. A special year and a special song with words to melt a womens heart. Memories mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  • OK let's all make fun of Neil for the sequined outfits and the vegas-style showboating. But let's not forget he's one of the most talented singers/songwriters in the history of pop/rock music, OK?

  • i have been searching this song on the net for last 10 years so happy to hear ...

    Thanks for uploading ....

  • @belleofalaska Yes it can. Everything that was going on during that moment in time the song was playing stays with you the rest of your life....

  • @trollerguy That is one of the saddest stories I've ever heard. My brother was a Viet Nam vet so that war hit me very close to home. Your story makes me think of the song "The Song Remembers When" by Trisha Yearwood. A song really can put you back to a moment in time, can't it?

  • The mere sound of his voice is like a present from God to human kind, it has been to me for all of my life, long before I even knew what he was singing for I didn't know the language. Desde Guatemala saludos para los amantes de Neil Diamond for ever!

  • This could only have been written by this Man!

"I still like the way it feels to sing this song" and I still like the way it feels to listen you singing it.....

  • i discovered that song through Elvis Presley, and i have to tell you i love both of those version, thanks for posting.

  • ty my friend for this beautiful gem from the master.
