@Idonthaveanamelol Very likely, or both

@Asiis You might have heard this reply before, but I think it could be more ancient-Japanese than African.

Can I have the link to the picture? Thanks.

how I missed my touhou tunes! I am going back to listening to this stuff since It's epic.

The starting voices sounds like african, but in the tone of filipino chanting of trobeswomen with the lyrics of japan.... hmmmm... strangely calming

pretty great choice of background image here. 5/5 for the song as well.

And then from there, into the time when the outside world starts pouring more and more into Gensokyo through various ways, be it Chiyuri, Yumemi, Maribel, or the Moriyas, and by the end, from about 3:51 on maybe that's looking ahead to the future when the great Hakurei Barrier can be released. That's what all the brass and cymbals after that point suggest to me. As well, the addition of a lot of samples from more modern-day music reinforce that... But anyways, amazing fucking song, 'nuff said k?

Wow indeed... This really gives me an amazing sense of respect for these two themes... A brilliant timeline from the presumed start of Yukari's time as a youkai, through to the quiet piano solo (which I'm going to arbitrarily assume is the creation of the Hakurei Border back in 1884), the first time of silence from the outside world for Yukari, before turning back to the more traditional eastern effects of Gensokyo, then perhaps into the STGs? [continued in next post]
This track sets up Yukari as an ancient being from traditional Japanese legend (as opposed to juts being part of Gensokyo)

I just love the starting voices. An oddly appropriate African-ish tone.
