Guantanamo Bay, Bagram, and Abu Ghraib ...

US military detention facilities around the world have gained a grim reputation over the past few years.

Now, the UK is facing further accusations that it provided territory to host a secret detention centre on the island of Diego Garcia for rendition prisoners.

Mark Seddon reports.

  • I'm not sure what the US Congress would do - they are currently in violation to UN Council, International Law.. over their own lack of merit in Guantanamo Bay

The US Congress, and Nancy Pelosi, are either paid-off or impotent -- Unable to even consider the Bush-Cheney autocracy for indictment on war crimes

  • Al Jazeera, could you please go to Diego Garcia and find out if this secret prison really exists? And if it does, could you please take some footage of it and try to interview the prisoners there? I think that would make a great report.

  • @Thundralight WOW YOUR GOOD CAUSE THERE IS A SILITUDE WITH ALL OF THEM 3 ...THEY...WE ARE CREO

    LE

  • Diego Garcia its not american or england country is belong to Chagossian peoples give to them back fk this peoples man sick white peoples

  • perhaps depopulation New Orleans, Haiti, Diego Garcia,

  • and American, they're just as much a part of this, so much for moral integrity.

  • I should clarify, it's called an royal prerogative.

And it was used twice. Politicians DON'T care.

  • If only more people know about the Chaggosians. The British AND American collusion to deny their existence was as transparent as it was illegal and inhumane, they lost a court case TWICE and used an archaic Queens rubber stamp to ignore it, just another example of their useless ideals.

  • gracias thank you

  • BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA I lived at camp justice for at least 4 months a year for the last four years. There aren't any prisoners there!! just us!!

  • How about giving Diego García back to the Chagos people, who since the 1960s have been living as exiled pariahs on Mauritius?

Of course, another option would be to do as the Brits did themselves - for example, deport the entire population of Great Britain to Greenland, and lease Great Britain, free of charge, to the Chagos people and other brutally dispossessed islanders across the globe. Then maybe, just maybe, the British government would learn their lesson...

  • Not much at DG except coconut crabs and drunk sailors on bicycles. I was there from 1994-1995 and still talk to several that have been stationed there up to 2006. The buildings in the film at 1:42-1:45 are the barracks and the main facilities (gym, galley, shops, etc). If there were prisoners on the island, more would have come out and spoken about it than some general that retired 10 years ago. If prisoners were there, it was probably to refuel on a military transport.
