Fab explains the basics of the Sonnox Oxford EQ + GML Plugin and gives tips on how to use the plugin.

Quick Overview:
The EQ plug-in is based on the OXF-R3 EQ section. It is a fully functional 5-band application with selectable shelf settings on LF and HF sections. Additionally, separate variable slope low pass and high pass filters are provided. The EQ also features 4 different selectable EQ types that cover most of the EQ styles currently popular amongst professional users, including some legacy styles which are renowned for their artistic capability. The use of novel coefficient generation and intelligent processing design provides unparalleled performance that surpasses analogue EQ in both sound quality and artistic freedom. This plug-in may well provide all the EQ you ever needed.

  • Really enjoyed this video - useful info and good demo. I tried the Powercore pci express but my system didn't like it... now I'm considering the UAD2 DUO, Liquid Mix or the Powercore 8, but there is a Powercore with the Sonnox Bundled, so this may be worth the extra - some of these PCs are too temperaMENTAL with extra stuff plugged in!!

  • Have you considered the native versions of the Sonnox plug-ins? The Elite Bundle (which has everything except the new restoration plug-ins) is on sale right now so you can get it for $741 with the 'youtube' coupon code. Anyway, you can never go wrong with a UAD card, everybody who gets one loves it and they're extremely stable (unless you're on Pro Tools since it doesn't have PDC, then the native Sonnox plug-ins are your best bet).

  • Hi Thanks for your reply - yeah, Ilike the Sonnox gear but my CPU is already under enough strain so I don't really want any more native plugins - now if they did that on PCI or in a rack module, I would be knocking their door down! Decisions, decisions eh!? Thanks again

  • Yeah, in that case the Powercore versions are your best bet.

  • Seems a great, versatile plug in. The patronizing douche doing the presentation needs a punch in the face tho.

  • Did you pay for or was it a "gift"

  • Hmm but what's the difference between soloing the vocal and eq'ing and making up the loss with light makeup gain compression and umm....moving up your fader? To me, with the bass and kick on top of the vocal, it doesn't give you any leeway to work with the vocal since more than likely your vocal will be under the mix anyway. I say eq for the problems, compress up, fader up, then eq within the mix rather than before. Either way, I'm considering this plug in now. Wonder how it'd match up with UAD.

  • haha... I know that now. I have the plugins in both. : )

  • you can use them with any Daw

  • Are the plugins only good with Pro Tools? I have Sonar 8 (producer) and FL Studio 8 (Producer)
