Handsome Jimmy is what pro wrestling is and was always about. I'm glad I got to see him at the mid south coliseum throughout the late 70's to the mid 80's...Noone can compare.

I used to watch him and his brother Vs Bruiser & Crusher at Indianapolis back in the 70's. What a great time !

man, Jimmy was just (and still is) ten kinds of awesome. his wrestling school is worth the drive for folks living in Northern Virginia and the D.C. area. he's a real nice guy.

Without question, he was a tremendous entertainer. Just caught me offguard to hear him proclaim his religion in song...don't recall ever hearing him call himself a "little funky jew" during an interview. Definitely not Orthodox...although I've seen a couple Orthodox who smoke (YUCK!).

But yes, pretty much all religions have followers who take the parts they want to believe in & ditch the rest, sometimes just keeping it personal & other times creating a whole new off-shoot religion.

Only if he were an Orthodox Jew, which he's clearly not. Conservative and Reform Jews would probably leave it a matter of personal choice, and Secular Jews wouldn't bat an eye.

Really, even these groups are still too generic. Think of it like the different Protestant faiths (Baptist, Methodist, etc.) and all their subdivisions, if that helps.

I think we're missing what's important here though, and that's that Jimmy Valiant is outstandingly entertaining.
