We took a trip on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad on our Great Rail Journeys USA Coast to Coast holiday in September 2009.
Unfortunately my camera battery ran out halfway along the journey and so I missed the 'money shot' where they eject steam on a trestle bridge as well as the sheer drops along the route. We're going back this year so hopefully I can make amends.
At 1:20 you can see me move away from the tracks as I was wondering if the engineer would see me as he was ejecting steam!
Great video. Nice job.

At 2:53, there's a through truss bridge that's bypassed. Do you know where that is? I wasn't aware that any bridges were o/s on the D&SNGRR.
Great video, by the way! Thanks for posting!

@ColoradoRailroads1 According to the official guide book it's between mileposts 489 & 490. Known as Elk Park Bridge it was built over the Animas River in 1964 but abandoned due to flooding weakening the abutments. No mention is made of when the new bridge was built however. Thanks for watching!
We visited the D & S again this year so there'll be another video along soon
