I have a golden retriever named Sunny who's 4 months right now (you could see her in my video), and she's a lot smaller than you're Sunny even though she's expected to be 80+ lbs, her father weighed 100 lbs. The vet said they get a growth spurt between 4-6 months did you notice that? Also, how did you train her Bang and High-Five? It would be great if you could answer the questions, and maybe watch my Sunny, thanks.

@305KimboSlice Sorry, just saw your questions now! Yes he was definitely experiencing a growth spurt at the time of this video (the ages you said), that's why he looked so gangly, even though he was getting an extra cup of food per day more than recommended, lol! He filled out nicely afterwards. To teach him Bang, first I had to teach him to Lie Down. Once he knew that, I told him to lie down, then would roll him over with my hand and say BANG loudly. Eventually he did it on his own. For high 5,

@305KimboSlice For high 5, I taught him shake a paw first. Then would hold my hand up and say high 5! At first I held the treat in my closed hand so he would paw at it. He figured out what it meant quickly! Unfortunately I no longer have him, he was VERY hyperactive, long walks/hikes/swims did hardly anything to tire him out. He would jump all over guests despite never being allowed. I rehomed him when expecting my daughter and he is much happier now. I miss him TONS though!

I bought him for $500. He was cheaper than most Golden Retriever's because he didn't come with his "purebred" papers. He is my companion, not a trophy dog, so I didn't care. I highly recommend that if you buy from a breeder, you make sure the parents are cleared for the things you mentioned. You may spend a couple hundred more when you buy a puppy from "cleared" parents, but you'll save money in the long run because the puppy will be lots healthier. Not to mention the less heartbreak! Good luck

Well I guess Golden Retriever's are cheaper where you live. I live in a small Canadian town in Ontario, so there aren't nearly as many breeders as there probably are in your area! It doesn't matter to me though, he was worth every bit of it!
