My Baby Can Read at 12 months old Camdyn Sterling

Camdyn Sterling is 12 months and 6 days old in this video. She has been watching the Your Baby Can Read videos since she was 3 months old. We just started using the word cards after she turned 1. We were using about 10 of the animal words for 3 or 4 weeks. I thought I was teaching them to her. But then, out of curiosity, I decided to get out some of the other 280 words and see if she happens to know any of the other cards that we had not been using. She knew all of them! She was so enthusiastic that we went through almost the entire stack in one sitting! I will have to video that at some point. It's amazing! She reads the whole word, too. I can lay out 6 words that begin with b and she can still tell them all apart. She understands their meanings, too..because she will make the correct animal noises when seeing the word and the correct body or hand guesture when seeing the word..like clap for example. This is the third daughter that I have used this program with and Camdyn has absorbed the informatin better than my other two. The key seems to be starting earlier..3 months vs 7 months..and following the recomended viewing schedule...and being consistent about showing the video to her each day. She has enjoyed the program. She also points out familiar words in the books that we read to her..and she points to new words that she wants us to say for her..and she is learning new words that are NOT on the video! She points to words on signs and posters everywhere we go. She WANTS to learn more! I was one of the first parents to use this program long before there were comercials. There was only one VHS back then and one book and nobody knew about it. My name and commentary are on the back of one of the VHS boxes! I am a big believer in parents as teachers..using whatever tools you can find! Just keep it fun! My babies gained a lot of vocabulary from this program and were talking a whole lot very early as well!

No, it has nothing to do with the color of the cards, although you do make a good point. She are more than 50 words of each color. You can lay down 6 yellow cards and she reads them just as well. Camdyn is 2 now and reading full sentences and whole books. She now reads words that she's never seen before. One day I tested her by writing the word crap. I used that word because I know it's not in any of her board books and not on her videos! lol She read it without hesitation!

Hi Heidi. You have a beautiful child and no doubt very smart also. But has the colour of the card anything to do with Camdyns identification of the correct choice? It is nice to be certain as to a childs ability at all ages.
