A bmx course has been constructed in an area of High Park in Toronto that is the site of an ancient Iroquoian burial mound. The mound, called Snake Mound, is being destroyed by the biking activity.
@SaZooCabelliero There is really no more discussion or dialague to continue about a BMX park at Snake Mound. There is now a permannent fence, and signs posted. And this area will never be reopened to biking. Suggestion would be to take all of your energies in finding a more suitable location other than a burial ground and stop trying to provoke a confrontation with the Native Community. This is really not about the Kids! As you yourself are 61 according to your profile, not a kid!
So once again it’s all distraction. Keeps the underclass fighting with one another and then, they can take what they want. And I don’t blame the Aboriginals, as ALL this land in High Park should be theres. But it’s funny how the policy makers look just like the white, largely male and over privileged landowners in High Park. Maybe these people are the same people? And maybe these types of people are looking to shed some of there over privileged white guilt. You think?
I was one of those inner-city kids that used this patch of land and from my experience ALL of us where respectful of the park: by not riding thought the park, (as we were not aloud to) by keeping this WELL used patch of land out of the way and clean.
How many Aboriginals us the park? How many Aboriginals do you see in the park? Who many Aboriginals own homes around the park? Who’s fight is this really? Because you have a dream catcher and Prius doesn’t make you “down with the cause”. As you sit in your 2-5 million dollar home.
I’d like to know how these kids having fun on this small piece of land is disrespectful or disgusting? Look at the houses that line the park. Look at the disproportionate amount of over privileged people that use the park, I’d say that’s disrespectful and disgusting
Inner-city kids on BMX’s, forced to ride on a patch of land the size of a postage stamp, because it is “too dangerous” for them to ride on the paths in high park. So for the past 10-15yrs these kids ride on a small piece of land, which now is a “3,000 year old Burial Gronds”.
I heard there was gonna be a casino built there.

High Park+BMX - Once again “we” (the white, largely male and over privileged) have found a way to set the “underclasses” against one another.
