In the series pilot, The Hidden Chef visits Paradise Tea in Pearland, Texas to learn how to make their shaved ice desserts. Then, we test the recipe in the studio to see if it is something you can really make inexpensively at home using a $15 ice shaver.

  • do we just use regular syrup like on pancakes?

    can someone answer?

  • Hey, I think someone answered this but the comment was approved and hasn't shown up yet. Sorry, busy building the studio and haven't been online.

Instead of making a simple syrup, brown sugar in boiling water, we used caramel syrup like you use on ice cream. Pancake syrup would probably not taste as good.

  • the ice is soo white cuz of the pott thingy but it looks kinda fake but its propberly becuz of der white pott tingy but i wanna try daht

  • Hahaha ... "the white pot thingy" is called a "bowl." LOL

The desserts were awesome! They are now "The Drink Station" and the woman in the video is no longer part of the business.

They have some cool concerts and other activities now. My work, hurricane damages and illness, and other things have kept me from going by there for a while.

Thanks for the comment. I hope you have a Happy Holiday.

    Peace,

    David

  • I made the banana strawberry one, but instead of vanilla ice cream I used my mom's homemade strawberry ice cream, It was really good.

Also I like the narrator's voice. Kinda random, but I do. (The music is kinda annoying though)

  • I still loved your comment because I did both the voice and the music. You loved one and hated the other ... oh, well. LOL

  • Did I ever answer this? Yes, it was called the Drink Station, not the name I was first given before the name change ... or maybe I misremembered it.

Yes, she was part owner of the Paradise Tea establishment.

  • You probably wouldn't want to use maple syrup. A simple syrup with brown sugar just means that you boil equal parts sugar and water (e.g. 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup water). You boil it until all the sugar is dissolved into the water, then let it cool before using it. In the home-made part of the movie, he doesn't use simple syrup, but uses caramel instead. Hope that answers your question.

  • Thanks for the recipe. I guess I'll take also a "white pott thingy" and prepare some . :))

  • urhhh yee umm i neww daht i jst 4gt and u hav a happy holiday to and get welll soon 2
