A comprehensive restoration of one of the homes in the Historic Cahaba Homestead Village in Trussville, Alabama.
Oh, if this house could talk.
The original light fixtures could tell
of going dark during the blackout drills
during World War II.
The kitchen sink could tell of the Victory Garden turnip greens and vegetables that were washed in it.
This house could tell us of the skilled and unskilled workers who took pride in their work and were no longer on the jobless rolls during the Great Depression.
The redwood siding could tell of coming from the Pacific Northwest over the Rocky Mountains on a train pulled by a steam engine.
The pine flooring could tell about being
harvested from south Alabama and milled in the world's largest lumber mill in Lockhart, Alabama.

I attended junior high and high school there in Trussville. I grew up in Clay and still live in Clay. But always felt like Trussville was my home too, because of spending so much time there as a kid. This is a wonderful video. Thank you so much for sharing. I have many friends who grew up in some of these homes!
