During my visit to Walt Disney World in the spring of 2010, I was caught in one of the almost daily sudden thunderstorms which drift through the Orlando area. I quickly sought shelter in the Norwegian Pavilion at EPCOT. I was stranded; unable to venture forth least I damage my equipment. So I stayed there in the Kringla Bakeri og Kafe as dozens of other drowned tourists streamed inside.
As I waited for this storm to pass, I thought of Ray Turner. His death still weighed on my mind. Just three days earlier, I had shot footage for a video in his honor, hundreds of kilometers away in Times Square. For Ray Turner, inspiration sometimes came at the oddest moments. In those little slices of life when no one would think to film, he was filming, and making art. And so, while everyone else huddled around the concession stand, I started to film as he might have done in that situation, with an eye for the post-effects, and with a song playing round in my head.
Ray, it has now been a year since you passed away. I still miss you, my friend. I wish I could have shared with you everything that I have done since.
Awesome work my brother. :) Miss you bro hope to talk with you soon. *hugs*
