They've been working on a self-driving car since the early 1990's. They also had a robot that could make pizza. Now put the two technologies together.....

Oh snap, it definitely ran a stop sign at 1:05... better take away it's non-existent license from it's non-existent driver.

Just for the record... This video was shot in March 2007 during a testing period and there was almost always a safety driver. Often there was another person in the car with a computer. The best truly autonomous runs can be seen in the site visit video in June 2007 and the NQE runs from October 2007. Thank you for watching!

It's an optical illusion I'd say. Or either they told it they didn't want it to stop at that sign. If you watch this vehicle in the race it operates and stops at all intersections that I saw video footage of. It'd also have not won the race if it blew through a stop sign like that. So I tend to think that the sign is indeed facing another way.

I've looked a bunch of times, the truck drives right by it and the stop sign looks like it's for the road the truck is on (plus, you can see the white line and see the truck drive over that too...)
