Correction: I said in the video that both Amy and Brian are shot. Only Brian is shot, by Harrow. Amy is stabbed twice in the back by Vanessa.

  • @prorantin i already own the book and started reading it two days ago out of boredom and im about 300 pages in, the first 250 pages had enough in it to want to continue reading the book, now it has taken a slower pace.

The last koontz book i read was "darkest evening" and velocity is miles better.

Apparently, the negative riticism is that the book shares similar plots with life expectancy and the husband. They all have stalkers in. luckily i have read neither of them so velocity is pertty good.

  • @goonerrhys96 "The last koontz book i read was "darkest evening" and velocity is miles better."

    That I don't doubt.

  • I couldn't agree with you more. This is exactly what i believed the story was like. after page 50-60 it all went downhill from there. The plot wasn't completely set til 400 or so pages into the story. i finished this about a week ago. The only reason why i managed to reach the end was the odd chapter had a really promising scenario (the phone call from the nun/ amy's secret). the ending was really pointless. I am thing of reeading velocity as it has a good looking plot. have you ever read it?

  • @goonerrhys96 I finished the Road so if I get my lazy behind up I'll be doing a review for that one. Then there is Swan Song.

  • @goonerrhys96 Velocity is complete tripe. Don't waste your time on it. I did and I do regret it. Koontz isn't the most promising writer, but Velocity is still terrible even to his standards. I'd say read Intensity or Phantoms if you want the best of a mediocre writer.

  • @ProRanting It got decent enough scores on Amazon. Maybe worth a library rent.

  • Cool, i've heard that lightning and watchers were good, but I should take a look at strangers. I think you mentioned this one, a lot of my family really enjoyed intensity. It is however, supposed to be one of his few full on horror novels. P.S. Keep up the great reviews!

  • @goonerrhys96 Thanks!

No, I haven't read Velocity but I agree it's got a good looking plot. I read the first couple chapters of Life Expectancy online, and they were pretty great.

Lightning is good and Koontz fans generally consider that and Watchers and Strangers to be his "Holy Trinity"..

  • @CombatOasis Thanks man. Two thirds of the way through the Kite Runner. A long time coming too.

  • Great job on your review, man! You're a good speaker. I was hoping you'd be excited about a new review, but such is life, huh - the book just didn't deliver. Koontz certainly has talent, yet once again, "The Darkest Hour" seems similar to "The Husband," which you previously reviewed, in the fact that he's just cashing a check again, imo. Still, it was cool to see you and hear your thoughts. And I'm lookin forward to your next review - awesome job!
