My neighbor had asthma as a child and started smoking in the seventh grade. By high school he was a heavy smoker spending all of his money on cigarettes. After high school he got a job as a truck driver and moved up to five packs a day. By his late thirties he was getting pretty sick and cut down to over two packs a day of filtered cigarettes. He told me the doctor said filters were better but I didn't believe it. Later he switched to "light" cigarettes and went back to chain smoking.

@westnblu Because you're death is good for the economy, let alone the extra taxes you've payed through smoking. And work? We never have to pay for your retirement. :) Let alone how much money corporations are getting. These ads are for the whiners, ppl pressure the gov to make these ads, but stupid people will do what they want. If a smoker is reading this, live a long life my friend, hehe.

They banned asbestos mining when the dangers of asbestos became known didnt they? and asbestos mining also was big business employing many so wots the difference? tobacco is also supposed 2 b a lethal product also yet it remains legal? how so? dont make sense 2 me.

@westnblu you obviously don't know how powerful big tobacco is they make over 900,000,000 billion a year do u think any government wants to stop that, and they have tried many times to shut the tobacco business, but they always win because they don't force yo to kill your self (smoke) they spend about 54,000,000 million on adds that's not nearly enough to stop this bad habit my name is timestop and i use to smoke a pack a day sometimes more that's im sure some of u smoke more but lets stop now.

U ask ppl why dont the govt ban it? and they answer ohh they take 2 much tax!! well.. aside from being a very cynical way of lookin @ things they probably 2 ignorant 2 know that the govt banned asbestos mining when the dangers became known why the exception with cigarettes?
