The concept of "user experience" seems pretty self-descriptive, but it does bring up the idea of perspective. A software or UI developer may make something that serves a practical, personal need, but for it to be useful to anyone else, he or she needs to be mindful of how well it will be perceived — and used — by others.

  • It's the primary difference that the average user sees.

Windows: Medium customization, halfway decent overall user experience, somewhat pretty, 10 ways to do one thing.

Apple in general: Annoyingly low customization, good overall user experience for average users, pretty unless you hate the stale gray look as I do, most things "just work," while others that should be simple are hard to figure out.

Linux: Beautiful. Endlessly customizable. Good UX until a new user is forced to use the console :(

  • @greyspot00 - You can actually tweak a lot more in OS X. There are several sites dedicated to just that. The challenge is, like with Linux, you kinda need to know what you're doing.

  • it's beyond experience it's ECOSYSTEM

Integration is essential- apple has made the 4 mobile computing components work seemlessly.

    tablet, pc phone and tv

  • Windows' UX is why I have a great appreciation for the NX systems... Linux is good until you have to ask for help (ie compiling a programs as part of an app's installation), ultimately it's the kind of OS that requires you to know what you're doing. MAC OS is solid, stable, efficient and is simple to use (to the point where the system doesn't treat you like an idiot) that is a classic example of good UX.

  • @vickyr9909

Of course it's a great comment. I made it.

    (I jest.)

I'm a PC tech and have to deal with all of them.

    Someone kill me please.

  • great vid as always, love these conceptual posts

  • performance and customization should never be sacrificed for user-friendliness and appearance.

  • @chriskindle No, its my pleasure its nice to know some people are above the act of vulgarity online anyways! Oh and thank you too for answering my question ")

  • @NatalieeRaine no problem :D thank you for reacting normally and not insulting me as "online people" usually do when you try to help

  • isn't intuitive the word you're looking for? iOS is the king of intuition. Android takes weeks to master.

  • @fpsBeaTt It depends. When I jailbroke it, I ended up adding/removing so many features I lost track of the amount of them I had. One example would be changing the lock to a fully working Android one. Call it blasphemy, but I do prefer the Android lock over, in my opinion, a dull number combination lock.
