DCI Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Program (Cyclone Sidir)

At DCI, we feel that once a child has been chosen for our Sun Child Sponsorship program we have a moral obligation to do everything we can to promote and safeguard the child's welfare. The Patuakhali District, one of DCI's Sun Child Sponsorship project locations, was devastated by Cyclone Sidr in November, 2007. Because we already had infrastructure in place there, DCI was able to provide immediate relief and rehabilitation aid to the local community. DCI is continuing to work to build damaged homes and schools as fund is becoming available. But still today there are many families who do not have a home. Time is of the essence for these families. The rainy season is just beginning, and will become more extreme as the summer progresses. As you can imagine, having a solid roof over their heads will make a world of difference to them. Our goal is to rebuild at least 100 more homes over the course of next couple of months.
