This is a fabulous clip from CBS Sunday Morning about the impact that singing in a chorus has on not just singers, but everyone in their community. As an alto myself, I know choirs are just way too important to be ignored in our community and cut from our schools! People, young and old and everyone in between, need to join a choir and sing!

  • Upgrade your life; join a choir yourself, or for their sake, make certain your children are in a choir.

  • I grew up in school choirs in the late 50's & 60's. It was a big part of my life that I'll never forget. I attend Grsce Community Church in Ca. and we have a wonderful full choir that leads us to prepare our hearts for worship and also the message from the pulpit. "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, sing praises to His name". What a blessing choirs and coral groups are. Singing makes for a merry heart!!! Thanks for the great video.

  • Fantastic clip! We somehow (miraculously!) just got back 4th and 5th grade chorus (in addition to general music!) in our district!

  • Chorus was not offered for me until High School. It's a shame because singing in chorus has been the most rewarding experience in my life. :)

  • Music important in our schools? No Shite, Sherlock! 'course, I don't teach music in the schools anymore because someone else didn't think it was and I became a budget cut. Heaven forbid we'd do without, for example, a few away sports games to afford to keep our music program intact. But I still sing. Yes!

  • my choir director at my church let me into a 2nd-6th grade choir in kindergarten because I was so excited to get involved.

now in 10th grade I still help him with that choir and sing in all his others. I can never repay him for introducing me to something that is such a huge part of my life.

I think everyone should have that opportunity as a child.

  • And once again something that should be a simple nice bit of coverage gets politicized. Here's a perfectly nice piece about choirs and choruses and someone just HAS to respond with the Obama mantra. What on EARTH does "Change. Yes we can" have to do with this piece? Not one thing. Just another blind Obama follower spouting the marching orders. It makes me sick.

  • Perfect for the night of the week that "Glee" airs!

  • @POLYPHONYOFMYHEART: Somewhere Over the Rainbow is being done by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square at the LDS Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. I'm afraid I'm not sure about Let the River Run.

  • What choir is singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow?

  • What choir is singing Let The River Run? It's outstanding!
