Very interesting video. I was in Tanzania in the mid-90's, but that was a few years before becoming a lava junkie. Compared to silica based lava, what is the temperature (or comfort level) of the flows encountered here? It is hard to grasp the scale of these flows. On average, how wide are they? How long before they turn white?
@sitzsack2 .......In 2008, it had a MAJOR eruption....I'm guessing the whole crater-floor looks VERY different now.....No more hornitos, little ponds of black-lava and large areas to walk-about on, Probably just one big deep crater....??
Great clip! Nice camerajob! I will climb it in April. Are there many people climbing it or is it likely to be up there just with my group? Is it dangerous to set up a tent or are there areas without activity on the peak?
