A tale of court intrique, treachery, and lost love.
The loyal General Xu and evil Prime Minister trade insults and accusations of treacherous past doings. The Emperor's uncle (who has been hoodwinked) puts in some good words for the Prime Minister; who then produced a fake letter ostensibly from the deceased Empress. The emperor unable to fathom the truth, tries to persuade both to bury the hatchet - and offer the symbolic cups of tea for both officials to drink and forgive the past wrong doings.
