I took a video of the ticking of my engine so I could slow it down and find out the frequency. Engine was turning at 1,500 rpm and ticking ended up being at 750 Hz so it was half engine speed and it was determined to be a valve-train issue. After making sure all the of the hydraulic valve lash adjusters were working properly, the engine was torn down as it wasn't going to be a simple fix. It ended up being 1 or 2 bent valves on the intake side of cylinder #1.

Did you even read the description? It was a bent valve. Nice try though. Better luck next time.
