2009 F-150 Rental Car

Had this 2009 Ford F-150 as a rental vehicle for about a month... Put nearly 1,500 miles on it during that time. I would say 500 miles of that was off road driving. Don't really like trucks much, and definitely don't like Ford, but I will say this truck was fun! Handles the dirt roads good. Smooth ride, and lots of interior space for a truck. The only thing you have to watch out for is bottoming out, and sand pits. The traction control is very controlling, and disabling it through the dash switch only puts it in a passive mode... That was kind of annoying.

Oh, and before anyone says it... I didn't abuse this rental! If this truck could talk I'm sure it would say I was his favorite driver.

extended cabs aren't too good for offroading. probably why it bottomed out a lot

We took it way back into the desert, and some of the roads started to get really rough. Last "bump" we tried to drive over it bottomed out good dead center... Lucky it didn't get stuck there.

2wd??? was that a 2v or 3v 4.6 the 5.4 fx4s are great trucks

Bought one. Love it. You treated it very kindly compared to the roads mine eats up when off-roading up in the Mogollon Rim

Thats impressve..! Being the "" 4.6L "" Not the 5.4.. suprised you could even have fun in the 4.6..  cause they are known to totally Lag in excelloration.. but FORD is know for its Torque.

too bad the insurance doesnt apply on non paved roads for all the major rental companies

Actually the reason they sell the most is because they're the cheapest, and ford sells them to the government in large batches at a discounted price. THAT'S why they sell the most, and just because you sell the most, doesn't make it the best.
