    I think people confuse the ability to create an effective image with creating a technically perfect image. Post production enables you to achieve the technical perfection that your camera just can't, but creating the effective image in the first place is down to you and your camera. Combine an effective image with good post production and you have something stunning.

    Well Mark would definitely disagree with you there. Take a look at all the light meter videos in the "1 on 1" playlist. One thing your histogram can't measure for you is light ratios. A light meter can. It's a great tool, esp. in the studio.

    Maybe you were just speaking tongue in cheek, but I wasn't sure.

    You think they didn't develop the photos? How do you think photography is done, huh? And most of the fascination of old pictures comes from the look of them (grain, soft focus), many people use photoshop to create that look in their pictures.
