I meant "pretentious" to show the state of mind of the allies (western) after the war: "We just won the war, we can do whatever we want so we'll make a country for the jews in one of our colonies..." To me that's a pretty pretentious (as in "fuck the world, we rule!") and colonialist (as in "fuck ppl living there") idea.

About the interests of having an Israel, I so agree with you, and would add that making sure that middle east doesn't fall to Russian socialism was also key.

That "pretentious colonialist idea"? The establishment of Israel was a masterfully executed move on the chess board by the western geopoliticians. This conflict not only achieved legitimacy for western domination/interference in the near east, a beach head into the Arab world if you will, it ensured weapons contracts, oil contracts, another client state... on and on.

I'm not saying remove people (in my perception of how things should work, people should be allowed to go wherever they want), I'm saying remove Israel: it was a pretentious colonialist idea to begin with, and has proven to be a pain in the ass bully since day one.

End Israel, dissolve it, roll back to what Palestine was in 49 British sovereignty aside, and build a new country with whoever wants to go there.
