Bart Willems went surfing in +- 15ft big waves at Mavericks on 2010 - 01 -10 and documented a session on GoPro HD camera. The 3 hour surf session was condensed into 5 minutes of highlights.

Great footage! It really boggles my mind how the GoPro makes giant waves look so small. Good idea throwing in the pics for scale.

I had the same experience. A really sloped 12 foot face looks knee high, but a walled up 6 foot face looks epic.
