Communism, Maoism, Socialism...no matter what you call it. Progressivism if you want something a little more precise is the antithesis of Freedom and what this country is. You cannot force people to be equal unless you want a police state. In the mind of a communist, equality is when you take (steal) from the haves and give to the have-nots. It is organized theft and in the end it is only equality because everyone will be in the same type of misery and poverty. Communism = Oppression.

I swear you Americans are weird. Obama is nowhere near a soviet style "communist" (air quotes cos it wasn't actually communist). He's done some socialist concepts like free healthcare, is that a bad thing. Here in Britain the NHS is our pride and glory, created in a prosperous socialist era. Socialism didn't destroy the UK, thatchers free market capitalism did, and it led to the recession where in know due to no banking regulations . People should actually read more and find out the truth

I live in a country with free health care. The only thing the government is "telling me to do" is NOT to pay money to the hospital if I have to stay there for a while. I think most people can live with that.

All the healthcare debates AND the committee hearings and the bill writiing process (the markup) WAS televised on C-span. Go to the C-span video web site and you can see it all over again. I don't recommend it though! I wasted half a year listening to republicans fighting to get their clauses into the bill and even when they got their way (i.e. no ingle payer, not even a public option) they STILL voted AGAINST the bill they helped to write.
