At the Milford Proving Ground, the Chevrolet Volt undergoes a water trough test to measure how well the battery inside the car will be sealed. Watch the vehicle splash through the water and learn how the test engineers measure the results.
@arteddie You folks need to realize that you CAN charge the new ones anywhere, and you CAN use gasoline to off-set when the charge is gone. This really needs to be researched more before dumping on the technology.
@shototsu yeah but so far electric is failing because there is no where to charge up, and your not going to want to sit at a charging point at a garage for 4 hours. I remember one year one woman trying to drive her G-Wiz electric car through the snow in London. she got nowhere where as all these people in 4x4 drove past with no trouble at all. I think the best way is to refine the petrol and diesel engines to a point where as they use nothing at all. Either that or run our cars on chip fat
@arteddie Yeah, hydrogen is a very interesting technology, too. Mercerdes Benz is developing for years, but I personally think they will fail, because of lacking fuel stations. :-(
Fast electric recharge will take about 2-4 hours, maybe faster, when the accumulator technology is further.
@shototsu haha, i drive according to the road conditions, so all safe and all. And electric wont be good cos no charging points and they take tooo long to charge up. No point saying oh im gonna pop out in the car in a minute to find you have no electric then having to wait 10 hours. And i'm sorry to say most other British people think exactly the same as i do. Electric doesn't work and hydrogen is the way foward
@shototsu I just think that most people will prefer petrol cars. Trouble is with batterys is they cost alot to make and still need fossil fueled power stations to provide that electric, so why not just have a petrol car in the 1st place. And no i'm not from Ireland i'm from the UK and electric cars just do not work. BBC's Top Gear test drove a few cars to the seaside and a warning light came on saying that they will run out of electic in 7 miles and the nearest charging point is 40 miles away!!
@arteddie As I watch your own videos now, I think an electric car won't be good for you anyway, because other drivers wouldn't hear you coming, when you drive your "own rallyes". Looks dangerous, dude :-)
